Quick Set Up Reference
This set upreference is a consolidated set up guide of the manual, approved by the developer to help easy set up. Set up step by step, and it is important to check with care before spool up
Caution : Unplug the motor prior to any set up process 1. install the gyro by use of the provided double side tape (3M 4408); the gyro must line up with the frame
Radio Set up 2. Set the Tx swash mixing to one-servo / normal; adjust all cyclic trim and sub-trim to zero (all these will be done in the gyro) ; adjust all cyclic end points / ATV to 100% 3. Connect the gyro to the Rx : E1 to Elevator; A2 to Aileron and P3 to Pitch 4. Connect the cyclic servos to the gyro ; looking from tail of the helicopter, connect C1 to the center servo, R2 to the right servo and L3 to the left servo; for other swash type, please refer to page 9 of the manual for servo connection
Gyro Control Set up 5. Switch the white button close to the dials, connect the USB drive to the computer, switch on the Tx and power up the Rx, the indicator light next to teh mode swtich should be green blinking slowly, then run the set up software
6. Load a basic setup profile under "File" manual, select from "Basic 3 D" or "Scale", depends on your flight style From here on, press "F1" on the keyboard to make any change effective 7. In the lower portion of the software, select "Control" tab; center the pitch stick and cyclic stick 8. Pull down the elevator sitck to nose up position, PILOT CONTROL box of elevator below Gyro Internal should be green, if not, check the "Rev" box in lower portion of the software (software may need to be unlocked under "Options" - "Control Inputs" - "Edit Control Inputs" 9. Pull the aileron to the right, PILOT CONTROL box of aileron below Gyro Internal should be green, if not, check the "Rev" box in lower portion of the software 10. With the cyclic stick centered, adjust the Control "Trim %" value to achieve 0 in relative field under "Inputs from receiver" 11. Move the elevator stick to both max position, the reading of "elevator" under "Inputs from receiver" should be 100% at max postiions, if not, adjust "Travel %" to achieve 100%, then adjust ATV in the Tx to make the readings 100% on max and min stick 12. repeat step 11) on aileron stick 13. repeat step 11) on pitch stick (you need to unlock this section by clicking file menu, "Options"->"Control Input"->"Edit Control Input")
Gyro Sensor Orientation Set Up 14. Now adjust the gyro direction on the right lower portion under "Control" tab; if the gyro is installed sidewards (with the blue tape on the side) as shown in the picture, check "Rotate 90 degrees".
15. pick up the helicopter, wait a second and pull up the nose, "Gyro rate" of Elevator under "Gyro Internals" should be green as the nose moves upward; if not, check "Flip Elevator Axis" 16. repeat step 15, but tilt the helicopter to the right, "Gyro rate" of Aileron under "Gyro Internals" should be green as the nose moves upward; if not, check "Flip Aileron Axis"
Swash Plate Set Up 17. In the lower portion of the software, select "Swashplate", click the appropriate swash plate type for your heli 18. Select "Servos" for basic servo set up, select servo type "analog" or "digital"; select "Equalize Servo Speed" to synchronise servo movement and select your servo speed 19. Push pitch stick to max pitch, observe the servo horns direction, servo direction can be reversed by checking "Rev" box on the right 20. Center both sticks, adjust the "Trim %" to center all servo horns 21. With ptich stick at zero pitch position, adjust the servo linkages to level the swash plate, linkages should be perpendicular as in the figure
22. Move the aileron stick to check the swashplate movement, if it is reversed, change the sign from +ve to -ve in "Swash mixing" or vice versa 23. Do the same on pitch and elevator to confirm correct movement (The swash mixing can be adjusted as the one in the Tx but please keep the value less than 60% to give the best performance) The gyro's basic set up is now finished, give cyclic and collective input to check if the swash plate is moving in correct direction; then unplug the Rx power to test the sensor directions. Put the gyro back to flight mode and power up the Rx again, keep the heli from moving and observe the the gyro's indicator light, it should change from soild red to solid green. Pick up the heli and tilt it along the elevator axis, the swashplate should try to level itself with the horizon then slowly move to neutral position, repeat this on aileron axis and it should response the same. If the swashplate tilts further down in the tilting direction instead of leveling before movign back to neutral position, sensor may be in wrong direction, in this case, go back to the set up mode and flip the sensor direction under "control tab"
